DESCRIPTION:The 2009 Accu-Chek Cyclebetes Provincial Relay is a relay 
 across the country from St. John’s Newfoundland to Victoria British 
 Columbia, covering over 10000kms.\n\nThis relay will consist of a core
  group of teams from each of the 9 provinces Accu-Chek Cyclebetes will
  cross. Each provincial team will consist of 5 adult riders (from elit
 e to fit recreational riders) and 5 youth (whose lives have been touch
 ed by juvenile diabetes). We encourage parent and child teams!\n\nThe 
 key to this relay is that it will be accomplished on one tandem bicycl
 e which will relay the Accu-Chek blood glucose meter across the countr
 y. At all times the tandem bike will be powered by an adult and a yout
 h from your team. Each rider will take 1-3hr turns before rotating thr
 ough other team members who will be following in the support RV’s tr
 avelling 24hrs a day.\n\nTeams will pass the Accuchek Cyclebetes blood
  glucose meter (baton) to the next team at each provincial border.\n\n
 As the Accu-Chek Cyclebetes Provincial Relay passes through Canadian c
 ities and towns, a peloton will be formed as community members join in
  to support and participate in this extraordinary event.\n\nSome pelot
 ons will be small, others involving up to 1000 riders! Cyclists wishin
 g to join the relay as members of the peloton are required to register
  and fundraise $150 for the JDRF to obtain their Accu-Chek Cyclebetes 
 Registration Package.\n\nThe goal of the Cyclebetes 2009 Provincial Re
 lay is to involve 3,000 participants and supporters and raise over 2 m
 illion dollars for the Juvenile Diabetes Research foundation (JDRF).\n
