What do you tell people when they ask you "what diabetes is"?

I cant remember anyone ever asking me what it is...usually they tell you what it is....You cant have sugar can you.....my uncle died of that, my sister has that and is out of control.....
I really can't remember anyone asking me what it is. That might be a whole lot better though now that i think about it......:)

I tell them that it's a disease that can't be cured, and it is NOT contagious.

I've never been asked but when the conversation comes up regarding D, I explain what it is and what the difference is between the 2 types.

I can't remember anyone ever asking what "diabetes is". General public seems pretty educated on the disease now.

Though I ve never been asked such a question but obviously when it comes up I do tell that lower down your intake of sugar and sweets....eat healthy food..etc etc

I talk about how to control Type II because of the experience with my mother.
