Hi my name is Alina. I’m 18 years old and I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes September 11, 2007. During the summer I had experienced great amount of weight loss, frequent urination, constant thirst, exhaustion, and stomach pain after eating. I was diagnosed during my first semester in college and it was a big shock to me because no one in my family has diabetes. I decided to take the semester off to learn how to take care of my diabetes and get used to this new lifestyle. A little about me: Well I’m a Fashion Design major in college and have aspirations of being a designer and having my own company in the future. I’m Cape Verdean American. Both of my parents were born in Cape Verde these ten tiny islands on the west coast of Africa. I can be a bit shy but I’m trying to overcome that. I‘m very open minded and try to see things through other people’s perspectives. I dislike when people discriminate against others and judge people. I love watching movies, documentaries, and independent films. I love music and couldn’t live without it… I guess that’s it for now.
