What type are you? Or you can write that you have a friend or relative with diabetes.
I was diagnosed as a "Juvenile diabetic" in 1950 ( now known as Type I). I was age 12 in that year.
I was taught early on by my mother to be diligent about self-care. I exercise daily, and have always taken advantage of new treatent tools. I have always had good health care teams, and welcome their advice. However, every diabetic must study their body and treat themselves if they expect to be a "good diabetic" (to expect perfection is to envite failure). One must never use the excuse that 'it was someone elses fault' or 'they made me do it'.
What is your blood sugar right now?
My DexCom CGMS says my BG is 132 right now.
What was your funniest diabetic moment? If you never had a low, tell us something funny that happend to you.
A couple of years ago I was shopping with my Brother-in-law at Lowes Building Materials, and experienced a low where my legs became 'wobbly' and I had difficulty standing and walking. He knew about my diabetes, but didnt know what to do. As he was helping me to the truck, he wondered what people would think with him almost carrying me, and I said get me food to heck with what people think.
What is your favorite snack to treat a low?
Cookies. Any kind.
What kind of treatment are you on?
I presently use an Animas IR 1250 with Humalog, TDD is 25 to 30 units per day. I've been pumping for 13 years, MDI prior to that. Have used a DexCom CGMS since 07/07 and love it.
