Profile Information

What type are you? Or you can write that you have a friend or relative with diabetes.
I have been lately "re-evaluated"...diagnosis an unusual type 2. Fasting as high as 8.8(158), usually go down to around 4(72) as long as one hour after meal before climbing up to 8 or 9(144/162) 3 hours after a meal. At times goes down to 3(54). Lowest I've been is 1.5(27).
What is your blood sugar right now?
6.5...(117)
What was your funniest diabetic moment? If you never had a low, tell us something funny that happend to you.
Right...well, I wouldn't call them funny! I walked into a glass window once, thinking it was a door...fortunately neither of us broke! I had an episode recently, in which while driving in the city that I have lived for nearly 30 years, I suddenly did not know where I was...I could not recognise the streets...nothing made sense, and I was drenched. I pulled over to test...3.2 (that's 58 by U.S. standards)....it scared me half to death. I don't remember feeling so helpless. I had been driving to my son's place, 20 minutes away...ended up on the other end of town. By the time I made it to my son's, it was hour later.
We love networking at DTF put your website address here.

What is your favorite snack to treat a low?
Doritos...and chocolate, but that doesn't count, because chocolate IS a food group.
What kind of treatment are you on?
Diet/exercise...however I've always been thin.
How did you find us?
I connected with TuDiabetes out of sheer frustration...I can't seem to get any answers...and I simply don't know where to turn...and up came DIABETEStalkfest !

Greetings Jim....nice to hear from you again....Well, school's over and I'm DONE DONE DONE (well, 'till mid August anyway!)...the end of the school end with a huge school BBQ on school property with all children and parents, and all staff are envolved in either food prep or supervising a game, or whatever you need to do in order to have it all run smoothly. Then 3 days later, our perk, the staff goes on a retreat, held at a fancy resort...I look forward to this, as there's no way I'd be able to afford it otherwise!!! A week ago, I volunteered at a day camp (in town) for children with diabetes and their parents, hosted by the Canadian Diabetes Association....most of the children are on pumps, and showing them off as any child would with an ipod...quite the eye opener. I'm getting ready organizing a BBQ for the support group I facilitate, under the umbrella of tha CDA (Canadian Diabetes A.)...It's LOTS of fun it's also a very relaxed way of ending the support group's year (we meet once a month, Sept. to May inclu.)....Then, the first week of August...it's a BIG family reunion in Québec in celebration of Québec city's 400th anniversary. My siblings and I (and our families) have rented a cottege in a pioneer village setting at the foot of Mount Ste Anne, 30min. east of Québec city. Our first ancestor came from France in 1662, and so there will be representatives of the family coming fron Normandy in France for the occasion....I'm also meeting up with a school friend I haven't seen in 22 years (we've been friends since grade 3!!!)...the last time I saw her was when our daughter, Danielle, was 2!...S-o-o-o, it's another BUSY summer:)....There'll be lots of hiking this summer, gotta make sure to bring CARBS. Also, smog has been giving me a harder time with my asthma as of late...so another hastle to take care of!...all the best in dealing with those frustrating "know-it-all" condescending docs....sometimes it feels like you're chasing your tail!...keep in touch...linda in canada!

It's a killer 38 (C) out there, and with the humidex...likely around 43...you can barely breathe ( not good when you have asthma)....short of going to church, today, I've holed myself in an air conditioned sanctuary....my home! The area in which I live in Canada (south western Ontario), is notorious for its sweltering, steamy conditions in June/July. The school in which I teach only has A.C. in the new expantion.....unfortunately, my class is located in the "other" part of the building, and even with fans going full blast, you come out at the end of the day looking like wilted lettuce (also same colour). Fortunately, school's out on the 19th....yeah!!!( no more teaching, no more books, no more children's dirty looks...).Besides Asthma, I find that extreme weather conditions play havoc with my B.S. readings...is anyone experiencing that?

Greetings to a fellow grandma :) Our little grandson, Mason, was 6 months on May 11th, and is a chubby cheeked cherub (that, he inherited from both his parents)...Technically, I'm grand-maman....how old are/is YOUR grandchild(ren). My heart goes out to the family of the young woman( Kyla), who recently passed away, leaving behind not only parents, but 2 young daughters....so very sad. Take care, Susan...drop a line once a while :)
