I need advice. What do you all do to prevent a low at the gym. I know I keep harping on this subject but I seem to really be struggling.
Last night I turned my pump to a 50% basal an hour before working out. I checked my blood it was at 115 before going into the class, so I took some sips of Gatorade and turned my pump to a basal of 0% for the remainder of the time I would be working out just like the diabetes team told me to do.
Halfway through the class I am in, I am sweating. Not your usual…

Now that I am a married woman my new “husband” (so weird to say that) and I go to the gym to pump some iron together. Its really fun, he became my trainer by default, and the best part… I don’t have to pay him! Well, not with money anyway (haha).
Rewind to Monday night. We got to the gym and I really wanted to do cardio since I haven’t really done any aerobic type workout in almost three weeks. Big M went to the weights and I hopped on an elliptical.
Before I left the house my BS was 137 and I…

Sunday morning I woke up to go to my training session at the gym. She had me doing a new routine of strength training/cardio combo. After twenty minutes I started getting so tired, I could hardly lift my tired body. Then all of a sudden, I start feeling really nauseated. Which is not an odd thing for me because sometimes I feel like that during a gym workout.
So, because of how tired and weird I started to feel I checked my blood. 221. Then, my mouth starts to water. You know the feeling, right…

Working out is hard I tell ya. You go
on the machines, you pump some iron, you take cardio classes. You lose
4 inches on your waist! Hold on before you get happy for me, there is
more.
I actually didn’t believe them when the told me today at the gym when I got measured. She said You lost 4 inches and I said oh really?
Why am I not excited? Well that is because I have been working out since umm September and I lost a total of ummm 2 pounds!

The past two nights I have been going low during my work outs. I don’t even have my basals on. I put it at a temp basal of 0% and all of a sudden during working out, the spots come
to my eyes and then the shakes. Ughh! Good thing I can still feel lows
or else I would be on the ground.
Actually, I found out from my trainer (yes, I see a trainer, wedding coming!) that someone passed out from a low blood sugar last week. Great! I definatly don’t want to
be next!

With the wedding, a recent trip to the ER on Xmas because of a pump site malfunction, and New Year’s resolutions, I decided to give the Low GI Diet Revolution a whirl this week. I got a Borders gift certificate in my secret santa at work, so I figured what the heck!

Well, I have survived yet another year with diabetes. This year has been great. Much better than any other years I have gone through with the big d.
Getting prepared for marrying my boy Mikey, and taking charge of my health by eating right and finally going back to the gym after 3 years since my accident. So every thanksgiving is another year I have
something to be really to be thankful for, "MY LIFE."
Through the past 7 years I look back and say to myself, look how fa

After months of search, I finally picked an invitation for my wedding. It was at this cute little boutique that my mom and I were passing.
We walked in and of course my mom went straight to the "chachka" section. " I need to find something to put up on the wall in the kitchen," she says. I tell her " ok, whatever!"
There was a lot of wedding stuff so I start to browse around.
Wedding candles, favors, pillows, flower girl baskets, card drops, glasses ugh this…

An 8-month-old boy died Thursday night in Flushing after a sport utility vehicle backed over him while he was in his stroller, police and family members said.
The boy, Kyle DiStasio, of Floral Park, was with his grandmother, who was not injured. The driver of the Cadillac Escalade remained at the scene and has not been charged…

The past month I have been at the gym at least 5 times a week. Yes I guess you can say I have become an ADDICT. But mind you before this month I have not been to the gym for umm 4 years.
Why you ask? Well, in August of 2003 I was hit by a speeding car crossing the street which caused injuries to my back, pelvis, knee and ankle. I was pretty badly hurt. I have basically suffered since then. Mentally and physically. But, I have overcome my fear of going back to the gym.
I woke up one day and s…

After I was diagnosed with diabetes in November of 2000, I searched the entire internet for a support group of some kind. I came across a Diabetes Message board, which helped me to get through what was probably the toughest time in my life. Everyone on there was affected by diabetes, whether they had it themselves or were supporting a loved one. It was great. I never experienced a message board support group before. Finally, people just like me writing and supporting each other.
I met people th…

Like any normal day. I went to work, got home, ate dinner, took my mom to the grocery store so we could buy some delicious eats, got in the car to go home from the store and ummm… A GUSHER.
When I went to sit in the car I felt the actual pump site rip out (it hurt, damn you low rise jeans). My first reaction was to immediatly put my hand on the site to feel it and yes, BLOOD was all over. Gusher confirmed.
My mom got nervous and started looking in her bag, the glove compartment and everywhere…
