What is your age? This will help the DTF categorize our sections properly.: 21

What is your blood sugar right now?: RIGHT now? 131

What was your funniest low moment? If you never had a low, tell us something funny that happend to you.: I was in the car with a friend of mine. I felt my blood sugar dropping but I didn't have anything sugary on me. She had icky licorice, so I decided that I'd wait until we pulled up to a gas station/rest stop... THAT IS... until I saw the Cat in the Hat running alongside the car. I decided to eat the licorice. ;o)

What is your favorite snack to treat a low?: I often use energy gels, SweetTarts Squeezables, Walgreens Glucoshot, or anything similar, as chewing while low often causes me to bite my cheeks! I love apples and peanut butter. I also love chocolate, but only when it's high quality.

What kind of treatment are you on?: Insulin shots - Lantus and Humalog

How did you find us?: I was referred.

A little more in depth

Hey! I'm Aidyn.

I'm a breasted American who is excessively caucasian, financially challenged, a uniquely coordinated individual, and a temporarily metabolically enabled person living permanent pancreatic dysfunction. Translation? I'm a chick who is a terrible dancer, always broke, an office slave, a klutz, and of COURSE, a diabetic! I've been type 1 since I was 16. I'm currently on shots but considering some form of pump therapy... BUT the idea of something attached to me 24/7 still sort of wigs me out. I don't wear a MedicAlert bracelet, but I probably should. If I say I don't feel good, everyone suddenly wants to feed me candy. I love bars, but I rarely get drunk. I'm usually that sober person nursing the same beer all night long and laughing at the drunkards around me. My hands are always cold, but my heart is always warm. I love riding bikes, rock shows, all forms of physical activity, hanging out with friends, coffee shops, open mic nights, theatre, and other forms of artsy fartsy goodness. I got tired of throwing the phone book and cursing the dog, so I bought a punching bag. I don't take much in life seriously, because I have discovered that facing circumstances with a completely straight face only leads to disappointment. Just add me already. If you made it this far, you're obviously either really intrigued or really bored!

I saw a therapist for my "issues" but he didn't help me because I refused to let him. The Dark Side (diabulemia, denial, and other fun things) - user discretion advised?

Thoughts about five years with diabetes

I swear, all endos tell people when they are first diagnosed, "You will probably see a cure in five years." Back when I lived up in DC, I met a guy on myspace who was also diabetic. We ended up dating for, hmm, three or four months.
